Naidu Says Growth Impossible Under Crime-Driven Politics
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said industrial growth and crime-driven politics cannot go together. He made the remarks at the launch of ReNew Energy Global PLC’s 6.5-GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing facility.
Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh needed peace and a strong investment climate to grow. However, he alleged that industrial progress had slowed between 2019 and 2024.
He referred to the murder of realtor and YSRCP sympathiser Pedda Dastagiri in Kadapa. He also compared it with the 2019 killing of former MP Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy. According to him, attempts were again being made to mislead the public.
Mr. Naidu said political greed had pushed some people to target even their own relatives and associates. He accused rivals of trying to hide facts in the case.
He also mentioned the Dalit driver murder case in Kakinada. Further, he alleged that witnesses were facing pressure to accept a compromise. He said his government would act firmly and would not bow to threats.
Recalling the 2003 Alipiri attack, Mr. Naidu said his focus had always remained on public welfare.
He said the NDA alliance secured a 94 per cent strike rate in the 2024 elections. However, he added that a stronger mandate was needed to turn Andhra Pradesh into a clean energy hub.
Calling the ReNew project a symbol of the “double-engine” model, he said the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance would continue to focus on investment-led growth.
