Naidu to launch ₹3,990-crore ReNew solar project in Anakapalli
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone on April 23 for ReNew Photovoltaics Private Limited’s ₹3,990-crore integrated solar manufacturing facility at Rambilli Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Anakapalli district.
The project, a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global PLC, had earlier received approval from the State Investment Promotion Board. It will be developed as a greenfield, 6-GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility.
The unit is expected to reduce India’s dependence on imported solar components and support the national target of achieving 280–300 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. It is also part of the Centre’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and is expected to generate significant skilled and semi-skilled employment in the region.
ReNew Founder, Chairman, and CEO Sumant Sinha had earlier appreciated the Andhra Pradesh government’s policy clarity and investment-friendly approach, describing the State as a key partner in India’s clean energy transition.
Anakapalli, once known primarily for its jaggery market, has been emerging as an industrial hub with recent large-scale investments. The ReNew project follows the foundation ceremony of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s integrated steel plant at Rajayyapeta in the district.
Officials said the solar facility is expected to further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position in the renewable energy manufacturing sector.
